Question

If the universe were shrunk to the size of the earth , how large earth would be on this scale?

Open in App
Solution

◎ The radius of the Observable Universe is about 4.3 x 10^26.

◎ The radius of the Earth is 6.37 x 10^6.

So, your scale factor =
radius of universe /radius of earth = .675 x 10^20

If Everything in the Universe shrinks by that amount and now fits into the size of the Earth.

therefore,
new size of earth = (6.37 x 10^6) ÷ (.675 x 10^20) = 9.43 x 10^-14
