Question

If the value of Ko for a zero order reaction is 2.4×10-². If concentration of the reactant is 0.4 M after 4hours , what will be the initial concentration of the reactant ?

Solution

For zero order reaction
K= Ro-R/t .[Here R0 is initial concentration R is final concentration and t is time]
Given that K is 2.4x10^-2 and final concentration is 0.4M with time 4 hours. Assuming that the unit of rate constant is also in hours.
2.4x10^-2 = Ro-0.4/4
or R0-0.4 = 9.6x10^-2= 0.096
Ro= 0.096+0.4 = 0.496M
So the initial concentration is 0.496M
