Question

If the velocity of a particle is non-zero, can its acceleration ever be zero? Explain.

Open in App
Solution

  1. Acceleration is the change in velocity per unit of time.
  2. In the case of uniform velocity, the value of velocity is non-zero but the change in the velocity is zero.
  3. Thus, the acceleration of the particle in the case of moving with uniform velocity is zero.

Hence, acceleration can be zero for the non-zero velocity of the particle.
