Question

If the volume of a cylinder of height 7 cm is 448 pie cm cube, find its lateral surface area and total surface area

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
We are given height h of the cylinder is 7cm
and its volume V is 448π cm3. Let r be the radius of the cylinder.
Now, we know volume of a cylinder is
V=πr2h448π=πr2(7)r2=4487=64r=±8r=8 cm (since radius can't be negative)
Now, Lateral surface area of a cylinder = 2πrh
=2π(8)(7)
=112π cm2
And Total surface area of a cylinder = 2πrh + 2πr2
=2πr(h+r)
=2π(8)(7+8)
=240π cm2
