If the wavelength of the first line in the Balmer series is 656nm. Calculate the wavelength of the second line and the limiting line in Balmer series.

For Barmer series
The starting shell is 2
Barmer series only occur when elctron jump from higher level to 2nd orbit

So to get first line electron should move from 3 to2
And to get second line its should be from 4 to 2
And
Limiting line is infinity because

But the energy does not keep going up as you increase the value of n, because the energies of the orbitals (wrt the vaccum) tend to zero for large n. So as n tends to infinty the energy released in moving from n nto 2 will tend to a finite limit. This is thelimiting line
