Solution

The correct option is C

c and a have the same sign

Basic structure of the quadratic polynomial.

As we know that a polynomial of the form p(x)=ax2+bx+c, where a0 is called as a quadratic polynomial.

Where, a is the coefficient of x2, b is the coefficient of x and c is constant.

Following are the methods to determine the zeroes of quadratic polynomial,

p(x)=ax2+bx+c

x=-b±b2-4ac2a

Here, b2-4ac are discriminant.

From the given, the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial ax2+bx+c , where c0are equal.

As we all know, if the roots or zeroes are equal, the discriminant value must be zero.

Therefore,

Discriminant=b2-4ac

Taking D=0, we get

b2-4ac=0

b2=4×a×c

As we can see, the value of b2on the left hand side cannot be negative, because the square of a number is always positive, since, the value 4×a×c on the right hand side can also never be negative.

Hence, a and c have the same signs.

Therefore, option C is correct answer.
