Solution

Reduction potential is a measure of the tendency of a chemical species to acquire electrons and thereby be reduced. Reduction potential is measured in volts (V), or millivolts (mV).

It is generally preferred over oxidation potential as in convention

People all over the world has accepted to use reduction potential instead of oxidation potential as it is easier to do calculations based on reduction potentials.

Hope this helps
