If there were no atmosphere the duration of daylight on the earth would decrease. Explain

Because of atmospheric refraction we receive sunlight even before the sun rises. Similarly, sunlight is present even after the sun sets. But if there is no atmosphere then advance sunrise or early sunset is not possible. Thus, the effective duration of the day would be reduced.
