Intensity of sound at a distance
r , from the point source of sound of power
P is given by ,
I=P/4πr2 ,
given P1=P2=1MW=103W,r1=2m,r2=3m ,
intensity of first speaker ,
I1=P1/4πr21=103/(4×3.14×22)=19.9W/m2 ,
intensity of second speaker ,
I2=P2/4πr22=103/(4×3.14×32)=8.84W/m2 ,
as source are coherent therefore they will produce interference at point P , therefore resultant intensity at point P ,
I=I1+I2+2√I1I2cosϕ ,
or I=19.9+8.84−2√19.9×8.84cos180 , (given , ϕ=180o) ,
or I=19.9+8.84−26.5=2.2W/m2 ,
