If total internal reflection takes place only when light ray moves from optical denser to optical rarer...
But during rainbow formation total internal reflection takes place when light enters from air to a water drop that is from rarer medium to denser medium which is the exact converse...
what is it happening this way.?

During rainbow formation total internal reflection takes place when light enters from water drop to air that is from denser medium to rarer medium which is the principle of total internal reflection.( not as you mentioned )
