Question

if two genes are located far apart from each other on a chromosome ; how the frequency of recombination will get affected

Open in App
Solution

If two genes are located far apart on the same chromosome than the frequency of crossing over increases. Crossing over is likely to occur in every meiotic division. Thus, the genes would independently assort. The recombination frequency of these genes can reach upto 50%. Thus, the recombination frequency of these genes would be just like the recombination frequency of the genes that are located on different chromosomes.
