Sets having same cardinal number (number of elements) are called as Equivalent sets.

Cardinal number is the number of elements in a finite set.

If set A=1,2 and set B=a,b, the number of elements in both the sets is same, i.e., nA=2 and nB=2.

Since both the sets have same cardinal number, therefore they are called as Equivalent sets.
