Solution

The Refractive index of a medium is equal to the ratio of speed of light in air to speed of light in a given medium. If speed of light in air is c and speed of light in any medium is u then refractive index of medium will be μ=cv
According to question give,
Speed of light in media 1 =v1
Speed of light in media 2 =v2
Refractive index of medium 2 with respect to medium 1 =μ21=μ2μ1=c/v1c/v2
we get, μ21=v1v2
