Question

If we define orbital as a region of an atom where electron may be found then will it (orbital) have any physical significance or physical meaning?

Solution

We cannot check the exact position of electrons in an atom. So to explain it , we assume the area where there is maximum probability of finding electrons.
This area is called as orbital. So we cannot say that orbitals do not have any significance but at the same time, we cannot assure the exact position of them.
