Solution

Rules for multiplying positive and negative integers

  • When a positive integer is multiplied with a positive integer then the resulting integer will be a positive integer.
  • When a positive integer is multiplied with a negative integer or vice versa then the resulting integer will be a negative integer.
  • When a negative integer is multiplied with a negative integer then the resulting integer will be a positive integer.

It can be written as,

positive integer × positive integer = positive integer

negative integer × negative integer = positive integer

positive integer × negative integer = negative integer

negative integer × positive integer = negative integer

For Example: there are five positive integers 2,4,5,7,3 and one negative integer -2.

By multiplying,

2×4×5×7×3×(-2)=-1680

The resulting integer is negative.

Hence, If we multiply five positive integers with one negative integer then the resulting integer will be negative.
