State whether the following statements are true or false : (a) A sodium ion has positive charge because it has more protons than a neutral atom. (b) A chloride ion has negative charge because it has more electrons than a neutral atom.
Why are protons positively charged, electrons negatively charged and neutrons have neither negative or positive charge?
Atomic number = number of protons and number of protons = number of electrons. So can we say that atomic number = number of electrons
I learnt this in atoms and molecules chapter "Two protons will also tend to repel each other because they both have a positive charge. On the other hand, electrons and protons will be attracted to each other because of their unlike charges."but I have a doubt, that is, if protons can attract electrons, then why electrons in the atom is revolving around the protons and not attracting it.
