Question

If we touch bottom surface of iron box we will feel hot but we will not feel hot when we touch fridge or washing machine. Why?

Solution

  • In the case if iron box, the bottom surface is directly kept in contact with hot coil so that it gets heated up to more extent.
  • In the cases of fridge and washing machine, there won't be any hot coils which can heat the bottom of the body. Hence, we don't feel hot on touching the base. However, when we touch the compressor of fridge or motor of washing machine while working, then definitely we feel hot.
