Excessive and indiscriminate use of pesticides causes air, water and soil pollution and adversely affects human beings. The pesticides are either inhaled or taken through food and drinks. They accumulate in the body and may get biologically magnified with time as they pass through the food chain. Pesticides have been reported to induce cancer, growth of tumours and have mutagenic effects in man.
