If wind blows from high pressure to low-pressure regions then why are cyclones circular and not linear in shape?
Coriolis Effect
The earth's rotation deflects moving objects to the right in the northern hemisphere and to the left in the southern hemisphere. If you and your friend are sitting diametrically opposite to each other on a moving merry go round and try to throw a ball towards your friend then the ball will get deflected either left or right to the position of your friend depending on the direction of rotation of the merry go round. Since our earth also rotates, the wind moving from high pressure to low pressure region is rotated resulting in a circular cyclone.
