Given (x – 1/x) = 1/2
Squaring on both the sides, we get
(x – 1/x)2 = (1/2)2
x2 – 2 + (1/x2) = 1/4
x2 + (1/x2) = (1/4) + 2
= (9/4)
∴ 4x2 + (4/x2) = 9
Squaring on both the sides, we get
(x – 1/x)2 = (1/2)2
x2 – 2 + (1/x2) = 1/4
x2 + (1/x2) = (1/4) + 2
= (9/4)
∴ 4x2 + (4/x2) = 9
