Given, $x^{2} + 12 x = 64$
$\Rightarrow x^{2} + 12 x - 64 = 0$
$\Rightarrow x^{2} + 16 x - 4 x - 64 = 0$
$\Rightarrow x (x + 16) - 4 (x + 16) = 0$
$\Rightarrow (x + 16) (x - 4) = 0$
