$x - 2$ is a factor of $f (x) = 2 x^{3} - x^{2} - p x - 2$
Using Factor Theorem,
$f (2) = 0$
$2 \times 2^{3} - 2^{2} - p \times 2 - 2$
$16 - 4 - 2 p - 2 = 0$
$p = 5$
