and
α2+qα+p=0 (2)

Solving (1) & (2),we get,
α2p2q2=αqp=1qp [cross multiplication method of linear pair]
α=p2q2qp and α=1
p2q2qp=1p2q2=qp
(p2q2)+(pq)=0
(pq)(p+q+1)=0
pq=0 or p+q+1=0
