The correct options are
A k = 4
B a = -2
C a = 2
D x + 2y + 4 = 0
Given slope of common tangent m=12
Equation of general tangent to y2=4x is
y=mx+1m ..... (i)
y=12x+2

m=12 in given equation
On comparing with given equation, we get k=4
Equation of tangent of x2a2+y23=1 is
y=m±a2m2+3 .....(ii)
On comparing (i) & (ii)
1m=±a2m2+3 .....(iii)
a2=4a=±2 ........(iv)
Using (iii) & (iv) we get m=±12.
So equation of other common tangent is x+2y+4=0
