Solution

The correct option is C 36
Given x4+1x4=119

To find x31x3

Sol: x4+1x4=119

adding 2 both sides we get

x4+1x4+2=119+2=121

(x2+1x2)2=112 ............... Using (a+b)2=a2+2ab+b2

x2+1x2=11

Subtracting 2 from both sides, we get

x2+1x22=9

(x1x)2=32 ................ Using (ab)2=a22ab+b2

x1x=3

Cubing both sides we get,

x31x33(x1x)=27 ................... Using (ab)3=a3b33ab(ab)

x31x39=27

x31x3=27+9=36

x31x3=36
