Verify the given statement

If x is an even number, then the next even number will be (x+2).

For example, 6 is an even number then the next even number is 6+2=6+2=8.

According to the statement, if the next even number is 2(x+1), then the next even number after 6 will be :

=2(6+1)=2(7)=14

But, 14 is not the next even number after 6.

So, If x is an even number, then the next even number will be (x+2) and not 2(x+1).

Hence, the given statement is false.
