The correct option is A X is greater than Y
When a solute is added to a solvent, the solute gets dissolved in the solvent because the kinetic energy of the solvent molecules generally overcomes the attractive forces among the solute particles. The solute particles moves into the liquid phase. As we increase the temperature, kinetic energy increases and hence, solubility also increases. Thus more amount of sugar is dissolved in 200 mL of boiling water compared to the same amount of cold water.
