Question

If you climb a mountain without any equipment, your nose may start to bleed. Why?

Open in App
Solution

At a mountain top, the atmospheric pressure outside our body is less when compared to the pressure of the blood inside our body. Due to this pressure difference, the delicate blood vessels in the noses of some of us may burst for the blood to flow from high pressure region to low pressure region. This is experienced as nose bleeding.
