If you have to add 6 and 5 on the number line, you can start from the number ___ and take 6 jumps towards the ___ (right/left).

Open in App
Solution

To add 6 and 5 on the number line, we could do it in two ways:

1. Start at the number 5 and make 6 jumps to the right, we land at 11. Hence, 5 + 6 = 11.
2. Start at the number 6 and make 5 jumps to the right, we land at 11. Hence, 6 + 5 = 11.

Because we are adding numbers, we move towards the right on the number line.
