Solution

Iron wire inside a candle flame or a Bunsen burner flame :-

  • Since solid metals have a high ignition temperature and good thermal conductivity, the majority of their atoms are unable to access oxygen atoms, which prevents them from burning efficiently in normal circumstances.
  • A piece of iron(Fe) wire will turn red-hot if we place it inside the bunsen burner's flame candle.
  • As the iron gets heated enough to slightly melt, it glows a bright yellow-orange colour.
  • The iron will glow and turn red, but no flame will be formed.

Therefore, if we hold a piece of iron wire inside the flame of a candle or a bunsen burner with a pair of tongs, it will turn red without producing flames.
