Question

If you subtract 1\2 from a number and multiply the result by 1\2,you get 1\8.What is the number?

Solution

Let the number bex.
According to the question,12(x12)=18

2×12(x12)=18×2 [Multiplying both sides by 2]

x-12=14

x12+12=14+12 [Adding both sides 12]

x=
(2+4)/8 = 6/8

x=3/4

Hence, the required numbers is 34.
