Solution

Barrier method:
  • This method involves putting up a barrier between the male and the female sex cells (sperms and ova).
  • The barrier blocks the sperms from reaching the ovary, thus preventing fertilisation.
  • E.g.: Condoms
Chemical method:
  • These are chemicals that are applied to the vagina. They stick to the mucous membrane and immobilize and kill sperms. E.g.: Foam tablets, spermicides
Surgical method:
  • These are safe and long-term birth control methods that include surgically introducing cuts in the male and/or female reproductive structures.
  • Vasectomy involves the cutting and sealing of the Vas Deferens.
  • The sperms do not enter the ejaculation stream.
  • Tubectomy - permanent method of sterilisation in female.
  • In this method, the fallopian tubes are blocked or cut.
  • The egg is stopped from travelling to the uterus.
