Solution

AIDS

  1. It is a sexually transmitted disease known as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
  2. It is caused by HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus).
  3. This STD weakens the hosts' immune system, thus making them susceptible and vulnerable to other infections.
  4. There is no permanent cure for AIDS, but the symptoms can be suppressed if detected on time.

Transmission of AIDS

  1. The virus (HIV) that causes AIDS spreads from person to person through sexual contact.
  2. This disease can also be transmitted by exchanging body fluids between infected and non-infected people. For example, blood transfusion.

It is true that AIDS cannot be transmitted between individuals by skin contact. It is because HIV is present in the infected person's body fluids and not on the surface of the body.
