Question

Question 6 (iii)
Given the linear equation 2x + 3y - 8 = 0, write another linear equation in two variables such that the geometrical representation of the pair so formed is:
coincident lines

Open in App
Solution

For coincident lines,
a1a2=b1b2=c1c2

The given line is 2x + 3y - 8 = 0, where a1=2, b1=3 and c1=8

Hence, the second line can be
6x + 9y - 24 = 0, where a2=6, b2=9 and c2=24

a1a2=26=13
b1b2=39=13 and
c1c2=824=13

Thus, a1a2=b1b2=c1c2
