Solution

The correct option is B Ila read less than Lalitha

As per the question, Ila read 25 pages out of 100 pages.
Fraction of the pages read by Ila=25100

25 is the common factor of both 25 and 100, so divide the numerator and denominator by 25, we get
25100=25÷25100÷25=14
So, Ila read 14thpart of book.

Given that Lalitha read 25th part of book

To compare both the fractions, let us convert them into like fractions.
LCM of the denominators of 14 and 25 , i.e., LCM of 4 and 5 is 20.
Now, writing 14 and 25 as equivalent fractions having same denominator which is 20, we get
14=1×54×5=520 and 25=2×45×4=820
On comparing the numerators, we have
5 < 8
520<820
Therefore, Ila read less than Lalitha.
