Illustrate an activity showing a chemical reaction and state your observation. Give suitable examples in support of your answer.

Solution

In a test tube take a small amount of solid sodium carbonate (Na2CO3). To this add a few drops of hydrochloric acid. A colourless and odourless gas will be evolved which indicates the occurence of a chemical reaction. This gas will turn the lime water milky when passed through it.
