Dear Asha,
I got your letter yesterday explaining why you couldn't make it to my birthday party held on the 1st of this month. I do understand that your health is the priority. I hope that you and your family are keeping well.
I have to say, you did miss out on an amazing day last week! Our plan was to start my birthday celebrations by 8 in the night so that everyone could make it on time for dinner. It was only half an hour before 8 that we realised that the cake was not there yet! You know how my mom is, she panicked a lot and had to make last minute arrangements. My parents really wanted to celebrate my 16th birthday. They had decorated our entire yard, there were games, food, drinks; it was all very wonderful...
They also took the liberty to invite all my friends and relatives. I was showered with wishes and gifts. One of them is an entire collection of the new video game that I love! But there was something else we really wanted to do. We took the cake, eatables, and gifts for the children living in the orphanage. We had taken prior permission from the authorities who run the orphanage. The orphanage had provided us with a room to celebrate my birthday. The children were waiting for us when we reached the orphanage.
As I cut the cake, the children clapped and sang ‘Happy Birthday To You’. My joy was unbound when I celebrated my birthday with the children. They were so happy! They had made up cards for me. It was the best birthday I'd ever celebrated. I will tell you the rest of the details when I meet you next week.
Convey my regards to your parents. Do take care of your health. Get well soon.
Lots of love,
Subhash.
