Immunoglobulins are produced against Antigens. So are antigens harmful for our health? If yes, then why are they important in determining blood group? If no, then why do Immunoglobulins phagocyte antigens?

There are two types of antigens, one is self - produced by our body and other one is non self- comes from foreign organisms like pathogens or any other. Immunoglobulins or antibodies are formed only against non-self or external antigens.
