Importance of Fertilizer Industry:
1. The fertiliser industry produces fertilisers to enhance the crop production and irrigation methods.
2.Fertiliser industry has played a dominant role in strengthening the agriculture in India by providing it with sound techno-economic base.
3. During Green Revolution, growing of HYV crops required large quantities of fertilisers, which ultimately boosted crop production and made India self-sufficient in agriculture.
4.The major components produced by this industry are; ​
i. Nitrogenous, phosphatic and ammonium fertilisers.
ii. Complex fertilisers having a combination of nitrogen, phosphate and potash.
iii Potash is totally imported from other countries.
