Dear Student
1. The continuous movement of water on, above and below the surface of the earth is known as the hydrological cycle or the water cycle.
2. It consists of various stages like evaporation, condensation and precipitation in a cyclical manner. Water from rivers, seas and oceans is evaporated due to the heat of the sun.
3. Water vapour is condensed in the atmosphere, forming clouds. Precipitation occurs in the form of rainfall and snowfall.
4. During the completion of this cycle, water passes through all the states of water - liquid, solid and gas.
5. Its importance lies in the fact that the completion of water cycle maintains the supply of water in its reservoirs and life and ecosystem on planet earth.
