• Zhangjiakou zone is located in the northwest of Hebei province and about 180 kilometres from Beijing. It will be host to two Olympic winter sports, skiing and biathlon, at four venues. The Yanqing Zone which is located 74 kilometres northwest of Beijing will host the Alpine skiing event.
• As part of the vision to get 300 million Chinese people familiar with winter sport, this area will offer many opportunities for local residents to benefit from the snow venues available for use post-Games.
