Question

In a certain test, the number of successful candidates was three times than that of unsuccessful candidates . If there had been 16 fewer candidates and if 6 more would have been unsuccessful, then number would have been as 2 to 1. Find the number of candidates.

Let unsuccessful candidate =x
then successful person =3x
total candidate =4x
According to Question now remaining
4x16 candidate.
now, unsuccessful candidate =x4
successful candidate =3x12
if we add 6 more unsuccessful candidate
x+2 unsuccessful candidate
According to Question:
2(x+2)=3x12
2x+4=3x12
x=16
total candidate=4x
4×16=64
so Ans =64
