We have the following information:
2n1 students got at least 1 question wrong
2n2 students got at least 2 questions wrong
2n3 students got at least 3 questions wrong
...
2nn students got at least n questions wrong i.e. all n questions wrong
Thus,
2n12n2 students got exactly 1 question wrong
2n22n3 students got exactly 2 questions wrong
2n32n4 students got exactly 3 questions wrong
...
2nn+12nn=2120 students got exactly n1 questions wrong
2nn=20 students got exactly n questions wrong.
Thus, total number of wrong answers:
1(2n12n2)+2(2n22n3)+3(2n32n4)+...+(n1)(2120)+(n20)=2047
=>2n1+2n2+...+20=2047
