Let number of passed students be $x$,
According to the given statement,
$1:5=x:225$
$\Rightarrow$ $x\times 5=1\times 225$
($\because$ $\text{Product of extremes = Product of means}$)

$\therefore$ $x=\frac{225\times 1}{5}=45$

Hence , the total pass students are $45$.
