Let the 5 students in ascending order of their weight be a,b,c,d,e
and a+b+c+d4=40
a+b+c+d=160 (1)

and b+c+d+e4=45
b+c+d+e=180 (2)

From equation (1) and (2)
e=20+a (3)

For least possible average we need least value of a and e
least value of e can be 45 and (b=c=d=45). least value of a can be 4520=25
Now least average 25+45+45+45+455=41

For maximum possible average we need maximum possible value of a and e
maximum value of a can be 40 and (b=c=d=40). Maximum value of e can be 40+20=60
Now maximum average 40+40+40+40+605=44

Now difference 4441=3
