Question

In a class of $$60$$ students, the number of girls is one third the number of boys. Find the number of girls anf boys in the class.

Solution

Let $$x$$ be the number of boys in the class
So. the number of girls is $$60-x$$
$$ACQ$$,
$$\Rightarrow \ 60-x=\dfrac x3$$
$$\Rightarrow \ 180-3x=x$$
$$\Rightarrow \ 4x=180$$
$$\Rightarrow \ x=\dfrac {180}{4}$$
$$\Rightarrow \ x=45$$
The number of boys in the class are $$45$$.
Hence, the number of girls will be $$60-45=15$
