In a class test containing 20 questions, 4 marks are awarded for every correct answer and -2 marks are awarded for every incorrect answer and 0 for not attempted questions. Pranav gets 9 correct and 3 incorrect answers. What is his score?

Given:
Pranav gets 9 correct and 3 incorrect answers.
4 marks are awarded for every correct answer.

So, for 9 correct answers, pranav gets 9 x 4 = 36 marks

Similarly, -2 are awarded for every incorrect answer.
So for 3 incorrect answers, pranav gets 3 x -2 = -6 marks
[ a × (– b) = (– a) × b = – (a × b)]

His total score = 36 + (-6)
= 36 - 6
= 30
