Maximum number of spectral lines (N) corresponding to transition from n1=5 to n2=1 are:
N= number of lines emitted =12(n1n2)(n1n2+1)
=12(51)(51+1)
=10
But the emissions in Balmer series aren't taking place. So, the transitions ending at and beginning from n=2, are not possible.
Therefore,four(52,42,32 and 21) such transitions aren't possible.
