sol :- Given,
In a competitive Exam.
No. of candidates qualified =84 %
No. of candidates failed =780
% of failed candidates =(10084)=16%

Let us assume,
the total no. of students appeared for the exam as 'x'.

No.of failed candidates% × total no. of students appeared for exam = No. of candidates failed.

we get,
16%×x=780

16100×x=7800.16x=780

x78016/1007801×1001648.75×100

x=4875.

total no. of students who appeared

for the Eaxmination (x) = 4875
