⇒ Number of cows which give milk = Number of cows which do not give milk

Number of cows which do not give milk = 144

⇒ Number of cows which give milk = 144

= 8 × 48

= 384

Total number of cows = Number of cows which do not give milk + Number of cows which give milk

= 144 + 384

= 528
